Programming a new combined instrument panel (Continued)

Programming the fuel level calculation type in the fuel tank

Note! Use this parameter to set how the control module calculates the fuel level in the fuel tank based on the signal from the level sensor. Select the "attenuated level" calculation type for cars with diesel engines (Lucas engine management systems). Select "calculated level" for other engines.

Warning! This setting affects the entire fuel calculation in the combined instrument panel. This setting can only be modified using specific information from the dealer.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Calculation type, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Note! This parameter is used to set whether the clock will display the time as 12 or 24 hours.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Time display, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Programming initial zeroes

Note! The instrument panel can be set to display or not display the zeroes. When displaying zeroes, all the digits in front of the number of driven kilometers will be filled out with zero. When zeroes are not displayed, these positions are blank.




- Ignition on.

2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Initial zeros, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Note! This parameter is used to set the speed at which the combined instrument panel warns the driver.




- Ignition on.

3. To modify the Speed warning, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure

Note! Use this parameter to set whether text should flash in the trip computer when the limit for the speed warning is reached.This programming is only relevant if the display is installed and the trip computer function is programmed.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Flashing speed warning, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Programming the function for high temperature warning indication, diesel/Melco Economy

Note! This parameter is used to set the type of signal the combined instrument panel interprets at terminal #B12. The type of input signal depends on the engine management system that transmits the signal.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the function, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window.
For diesel engines, the signal is used to warn for high engine coolant temperature (ECT).
For Melco gasoline engines, the signal is used to indicate economical driving "E".
No input signal must be used for EMS2000 gasoline engines
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Programming the display for the outside temperature / trip computer function

Caution! If the display is installed, it must be programmed before the outside temperature or trip computer function will be displayed.

Note! A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be stored if programming is carried out when an outside temperature sensor is not installed.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Display type, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window.
If the combined instrument panel display is in kilometers, the kilometer display (metric) must be selected.
If the combined instrument panel display is in miles, the miles display (imperial) must be selected
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Note! Use this parameter to set the outside temperature unit to display readings in °C or °F.

Caution! This programming is only relevant if the display for outside temperature / trip computer function is installed / programmed.




- Ignition on.

2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Unit, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Note! This parameter is used to set whether the combined instrument panel has the trip computer function or not.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure

3. To modify the Trip computer function, select the desired settings from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the upper list box is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the upper list box is the desired value.

Programming fuel consumption calculation, offset

Warning! This setting affects the entire fuel calculation in the combined instrument panel. This setting can only be modified using specific information from the dealer.

Note! This parameter is used to set the trip computer's fuel consumption value. This value may need to be reprogrammed if the trip computer value does not correspond to the actual value.This programming is only relevant if the display is installed and the trip computer function is programmed.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Offset value, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Programming the displayed fuel level value, offset

Warning! This setting affects the total fuel consumption calculation in the combined instrument panel and the low fuel level warning function. Incorrect setting may result in no warning for low fuel level!This setting can only be modified using specific information from the dealer.

Note! This parameter is used to set the deviation from displayed fuel level sensor value. This value may need to be reprogrammed if the shape of the fuel tank has been changed.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Offset value, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Warning! This setting affects the entire fuel calculation in the combined instrument panel.

Note! This parameter is used to set the type of fuel level sensor the fuel tank is equipped with. The selection is made according to the car model year.




- Ignition on.

2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Fuel level sensor, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Programming the type of engine management system for temperature display

Note! This parameter is used to program the engine management system the car is equipped with. The engine management systems transmits different temperature signals to the combined instrument panel. The correct type of engine management system must be programmed before the combined instrument panel can display the correct engine coolant temperature (ECT). There are two engine management system options: EMS 2000or non EMS 2000.




- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. Read off the current value for the setting in the upper list box
3. To modify the Engine management system, select the desired setting from the alternatives in the lower list window
4. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
5. Check that the new setting in the middle list window is correct.
If the selected setting is incorrect, click on the desired value in the lower list box again. Then click on the Start programming button. Check that the new value in the middle list window is the desired value.

Updating the combined instrument panel for diesel engines

Identifying the part number of the combined instrument panel

Warning! This function is for cars with D4192T2 diesel engines, model year 2000. The function is used to update the combined instrument settings to display the engine coolant temperature (ECT) and the point at which the warning lamp for high engine coolant temperature (ECT) will light. From chassis number 504300 inclusive, the factory installed combined instrument panel is already updated.




- Ignition on.

This modification may only be carried out on combined instrument panels with the following part number

- 30889707.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol to activate the part number read off. Check the part number. The present setting is also displayed when reading off.

Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the update. The present setting is read off automatically on activation. This service is not required if the setting has already been updated!
Start the programming. The new setting is displayed in the upper display.

- Ignition on.
1. Click the VCT2000 symbol to activate the programming procedure
2. The odometer setting can be programmed between 0 and 999,999 km. It is only possible to program this parameter onceand then only if the reading is below 100 km. The actual stored mileage is displayed in the upper field
3. Entered the desired mileage in the white field using the keyboard.

Caution! Do not enter zeroes "0" before the actual mileage.Programming can only be carried out ONCE so take care when setting the mileage.

4. Confirm the entered mileage! Click cancel if the selected value is incorrect
5. Confirm again
6. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
7. When programming is complete the programmed mileage is displayed in the field.

2. The odometer setting can be programmed between 0 and 621,000 miles. It is only possible to program this parameter onceand then only if the reading is below 100 miles. The actual stored mileage is displayed in the upper field
3. Entered the desired mileage in the white field using the keyboard.

Caution! Do not enter zeroes "0" before the actual mileage.Programming can only be carried out ONCE so take care when setting the mileage.

4. Confirm the entered mileage! Click cancel if the selected value is incorrect
5. Confirm again
6. Select the Start programming button to begin the programming procedure
7. When programming is complete the programmed mileage is displayed in the field.
