Checking the signal from the back-up (reversing) lamp switch




- Ignition on.
Select back-up (reverse) gear. Read off the signal from the back-up (reversing) lamp switch. The value must be On.





Is the value On?

Yes - Checking components and wiring

- Ignition off.
Check that fuse 6 the integrated relay / fusebox in the passenger compartment is intact.
- On cars with a manual transmission:
Check the cable between fuse 6 and back-up (reversing) lamp switch # 1 and the cable between back-up (reversing) lamp # 2 and control module connector B1 #8 (#A38) for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault , contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Cars with automatic transmission:
Check the cable between fuse 6 and automatic transmission connector C # 3 and the cable between automatic transmission connector C # 2 and control module connector B1 #8 (#A38) for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault , contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between fuse 6 and the lighting in the switches for sport mode, winter mode and anti-spin control for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Try a new back-up (reversing) lamp switch if no fault is found in the cables.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking components and wiring




- Ignition off.
Check that the bulbs for the back-up (reversing) lamp are intact.
Check the cable between control module connector B1 #9 (#A39) and back-up (reversing) lamps #2.8 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the ground cables from back-up (reversing) lamps #2.5 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault , contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Select back-up (reverse) gear. Read off the signal from the back-up (reversing) lamp switch. The value must be On.
