Handling non-deployed airbag modules / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners

If the car is to be scrapped, or when replacing the steering wheel module, the passenger module, the seat belt tensioner and the front seat SIPS airbag

Non-deployed airbag modules / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners must not be deployed either in the car or when removed.
Remove according to the instructions in section:
- After a collision in which the SRS system has been deployed Service and Repair

Up to model year 2000 cars

From model year 2000
- Seat belt tensioner Removal and Replacement
- SIPS airbag SIPS Airbag

Warning! Airbag modules / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners must never be taken apart, repaired or moved to another vehicle.





Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed airbag / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner. Airbags / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners may be deployed.

Replaced airbag modules / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners should be returned to Volvo according to standard procedures.

Storage and transport




Store and transport airbag modules / pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners according to the relevant national statutory requirements.
