Replacing lock function

Removing




Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Remove:
- Battery negative lead.
- Gear selector knob according to Replacing gear selector knob, AW50-42 Replacing Gear Selector Knob.
- Center console according to Replacing the transmission cable, AW50-42 Service and Repair.
Pull out pawl (1) with round-nosed pliers.
Remove push rod and spring (4). If necessary, use a thin, bent welding rod to lift up the spring.

Installing




Lubricate the lower section of the push rod and spring with grease 1161417-9.
Install spring and push rod (4).
Press down push rod and install pawl (1) with new O-rings in the gear selector.
Lubricate pawl segment with grease 1161417-9.
Install:
- Center console according to Replacing the transmission cable, AW50-42 Service and Repair.
- Gear selector knob according to Replacing gear selector knob, AW50-42 Replacing Gear Selector Knob.
- Battery negative lead.
Set the clock and anti-theft radio code.
