CHECKING THE GROUND TERMINAL FOR THE UPPER ELECTRONIC MODULE (UEM)
Checking the ground terminal
- Ignition off
- Control module disconnected
- Switch off all equipment that takes power from the battery (courtesy lighting, radio etc).
Connect the breakout box.
Connect an ohmmeter between terminal #A20 on the breakout box and the battery negative terminal.
The ohmmeter should read 0 ohms.

Yes - Testing Complete
No - Continue below.
Checking for open-circuits, contact resistance and oxidation
Check the ground terminal 31/83. Check for an open-circuit and contact resistance and oxidation. Checking Wiring and Terminals - Permanent Faults
Check connector 54/13 for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking Wiring and Terminals - Permanent Faults
Verification
- Ignition off.
- Control unit disconnected
- Switch off all battery loadings such as entrance lights and radio.
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and test box A20. The ohmmeter should display 0 ohms.
Is the value OK?
Yes - Testing Complete
No - Continue below.
Fault-tracing information
The fault should be diagnosed and remedied.
Since this is not the case the fault-tracing process has failed.
