Signal Faulty. Permanent Fault

Signal faulty. Permanent fault

Checking the connectors

- Ignition off.
- Check the connectors of the ABS control unit and the pre-pressure valve for contact resistance and oxidation, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Activation function to activate the pre-pressure valve.
The status must switch between OFF and ON.

Additional information:
- Replacing the control module for ABS and dynamic stability and traction control (DSTC) Replacing the Control Module for ABS and Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC)

Does the status switch between OFF and ON?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking the wiring and sensor

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the wiring and sensor
Check the wiring between pre-pressure valve connection:
- #3 and control unit #1 (#A1)
- #4 and control unit #17 (#A17)
for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short circuit to ground as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and a short circuit to voltage supply as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Hint: Check the pressure build-up valve with the ignition off, the Anti-lock brake system module (ABS) disconnected and the breakout box connected. Measure the resistance between terminals #1 and #17 on the breakout box. The resistance should be approximately 3 ohms.

Do the necessary corrective action.

Additional information:
- To connect the test box, see Connecting the ABS/DSTC breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box.
- To replace the pre-pressure valve (brake booster) see Replacing the power brake booster (DSTC) Replacing the Power Brake Booster (DSTC) ; for right-hand drive cars see Replacing the power brake booster (DSTC) Replacing the Power Brake Booster (DSTC).
- For information on signals, see Signal specification, ABS / DSTC (dynamic stability and traction control) control module Signal Specification, ABS / DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) Control Module.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes - Exit Fault-Tracing

No - Attempt New Test
