Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) PHM-001D is stored if the keypad unit/car-phone module registers that there is a short-circuit to +12 V in the signal to the hands-free microphone.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to +12 V in the signal between the car-phone box and the keypad unit.

Fault symptom[s]
- Handset does not operate.
- Combined instrument panel message that the handset is not functioning.
