Connecting tools
Note! The exhaust system may be extremely hot if the car has been driven recently. Allow the exhaust system to cool down before beginning the check. Failure to do so may damage the special tool.
Note! To ensure that there is no exhaust leakage, see: Flanged joint, assembling Flanged Joint, Assembling.
- Connect tool 999 5546 ADAPTOR 999 5546 Adapter and pressure regulator 999 5544 REGULATOR 999 5544 Regulator to the exhaust pipe
- B4204S2 engines: block one of the exhaust pipe ends
- Adjust the pressure to 0.4 bar. A lower pressure may be necessary depending on the condition of the exhaust system.
Operation
- Check the exhaust system by spraying a soap solution on all joints and the connections between the cylinder head and the rear three-way catalytic converter (TWC) (diesel engines) or the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (gasoline engines).
- Only very small and slow bubbles are permissible.
