Replacing lambda probes
Removing the heated oxygen sensor wiring
Remove the relay cover. Disconnect the connector from front (1) or rear (2) heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Remove the wiring clamp.
- Rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S): Disconnect the wiring from the power steering pipe bracket. Pull the wiring downwards.
- Raise the car.
- Rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S): Slacken off the bolt on the cable guides and circlip. Pull the cable downwards.
Removing heated oxygen sensors (HO2S)
- Apply rust solvent.
- Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
- Remove the sealing ring.
Transferring the cable guide, rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Remove the cable clamp and cable guide from the old cable.
- Position the new cable in the guide. See the illustration.
Installing the heated oxygen sensor
- Install a new sealing ring. Apply copper paste (P/N 1161035-9) to the entire length of the thread.
Tighten the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) to 55 Nm.
- Pull the cable upwards.
Note! Adjust the routing of the cable so that it does not come into contact with the exhaust system.
Installing the cable guide, rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Secure the cable guide on the bodywork. Tighten to 10 Nm.
- Secure the cable clamp.
Installing the cable and connector, heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Route the cable. Tighten where necessary.
- Connect the connector. Tighten the cable to the bracket.
- Reinstall the relay cover.
Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Reset trim.
