Checking the function of the rear windshield wiper

Checking the signal from the wiper / washer switch




- Ignition on.
Activate the tailgate wiper with the wiper / washer switch. Read off the signal. The value must be On.





Is the value On?

Yes - Checking wiring and components

No - Checking wiring and components

- Ignition off.
Check the cable between fuse 14 in the integrated relay/fusebox in the passenger compartment and wiper / washer switch connector #2 and the cable between wiper / washer switch connector #3 and control module connector B2 #24 (#A24) for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Try a new wiper / washer switch if no fault is found in the cables.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking wiring and components




- Ignition off.
Check the following cables. Check the cable between control module connector B2 #11 (#A11) and connector #3 for the tailgate wiper motor. Check the cable between control module connector B2 #26 (#A26) and connector #2 for the tailgate wiper motor. Check the ground lead between tailgate wiper motor connector #1 and the ground terminal. Check these cables for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Try a new tailgate wiper motor if no fault is found in the cables.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Activate the tailgate wiper. It should start and then stop in the parking position.





Is the function of the tailgate wiper OK?
