Checking Component And Wiring

Check the brake pedal sensor resistance between #2 and #4, For resistance values see Brake pedal sensor.

Check cable between engine control module (ECM) connector #B16 (#B28) and brake pedal sensor #2 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults and an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults.

Check cable between #B4 and brake pedal sensor #1 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults and an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent faults.

Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box.
- With the ignition on and the brake pedal sensor connector disconnected, the voltage between brake pedal sensor #2 and ground should be approximately 5 V.
- With the brake pedal sensor connector disconnected, brake pedal sensor #4 (engine control module side) should be connected to ground.
- For information about signals, see Signal specification.
