Check accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor for intermittent loose connections according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults.

Check signal cable between engine control module (ECM) connector #B17 (#B29) and accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor #5 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults.

Check signal cable between engine control module (ECM) connector #B17 (#B29) and accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor #5 for an intermittent open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults.

Remedy as necessary.

- Accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor #5 transmits an analog signal that varies between approximately 0.45 V and approximately 5 V depending on accelerator pedal (AP) position.
