Calibrating the Special Tool

Calibration

Special tools: 951 1506, 998 8695, 919 4732, 861 8437

It is important that the special tool is operating correctly when fault-tracing and inspecting the SRS system. A defective special tool will cause the on-board diagnostic (OBD) system to give false readings and will make fault- tracing and checking more difficult.

To ensure that the special tool is fault-free it must be calibrated using an ohmmeter before it is used.

Use an ohmmeter to read off the resistance in the special tool.

Connect the ohmmeter test probes to the terminal pin on the special tool.

The ohmmeter should read between 1.8 and 2.5 ohms.

Discard the tool and use a new one if the ohmmeter displays another value.
