Front side door assembly
Removing and installing the front side door assembly
Removing the front side door assembly
Mark the location of the hinges.
Remove:
- the tensioned retaining pins (clamp the pins if necessary)
- the rubber boot for the cable harness from the A-post
- the connector by pressing in the lock on the connector
- the four screws for the hinges on the side of the door
- the front side door.
Note! A 1.0 mm shim (alternatively 2 x 0.5 mm shims) are positioned between the lower hinge and the front side door.
Installing the front side door assembly
Note! For new doors, first remove the welded washer from the hinge. Rust-proof the hinge.
Position the door so that it is correctly located for the markings on the hinges.
Install:
- A 1.0 mm shim (alternatively 2 x 0.5 mm shims) between the lower hinge and the door
- the four screws. Finger tighten
- the tensioned retaining pins.
Note! The opening in the tensioned retaining pins in line with the spacer.
- the connector
- the rubber boot in the A-post.
Carefully close the door. Check the alignment.
Open the door. Tighten the four screws. Tighten to 21 Nm.

Note! Support the lower edge of the door so that it remains in position when the hinges are removed.
Remove:
- the fender liner. See Plastic fender liner Service and Repair
- the foam plastic seal.
Note! Mark the location of the hinge with a pen.
- the screws
- the hinge.
Installing the hinges for the front side door
Note! When installing a new hinge, paint the hinge the correct color before installation.
Install:
- a 1.0 mm shim at the lower hinge
- the hinge according to the marking
- the screws. Tighten to 21 Nm
- the foam plastic seal
- the fender liner. See Plastic fender liner Service and Repair.
