Checking the function of the vacuum pump
- Ignition off.
Check the cable between vacuum control valve connector terminal #2 (cable harness side) and pump relay base terminal #1. Check the cable between pump relay base terminal #5 and vacuum pump terminal #1 (cable harness side). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Hint: To check the pump relay, take readings between relay terminal pins #3 and #5. The resistance must be infinite.
Check the function of the vacuum control valve.

- Brake several times to diminish the vacuum
- Start the engine
- Listen to the vacuum pump.
The Vacuum pump should start and run for a few seconds to build up a new vacuum and then stop.
