Status check

Reading off the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC)

Engine control module (ECM)

Reading off the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
Note! When reading off the DTC status, other stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status will also be listed.

- Start the engine. Let it idle for at least 15 seconds.
- Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status. Check the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Was the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC) permanent?

Yes - PERMANENT

No - INTERMITTENT

------------------------

PERMANENT - Other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)

INTERMITTENT - Intermittent fault

-------------------------------------------------

Other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
The immobilizer function is integrated in the central electronic module (CEM).
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be caused by missing CAN communication. If there is a Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stored in the central electronic module fault trace accordingly.
Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the central electronic module (CEM).

Were there any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the immobilizer control module?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Replacing and programming the engine control module (ECM)

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing and programming the engine control module (ECM)
The engine control module (ECM) has registered an internal communication problem.

Caution! A new engine control module (ECM) is delivered without software. The engine control module (ECM) must be programmed when it has been replaced.

For information about programming and replacing the engine control module (ECM), see Engine control module (ECM), replacing Service and Repair.

Continue - Fault-tracing information

-------------------------------------------------

Intermittent fault
The engine control module (ECM) has previously detected a fault in the communication between the immobilizer function in the central electronic module (CEM) and the engine control module (ECM).
