Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
S60/V70 (00-)/V70 XC (01-)/S80 (-06) Model year 1999-2001.
If Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor showing greater value than 85.9 %, for a longer time than 0.32 seconds, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.
For upgraded software, released during year 2006 or later, an adapted brake pedal position sensor signal is used. Engine control module (ECM) adapts the signal so that it always shows 0 % at let up pedal, which is different compared to earlier software, when the signal directly from the sensor was used.
If the Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor shows higher value than 7.0 % for a longer time than 2.0 seconds and this is repeated 30 times in a row, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.
Diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, stored even when the brake light switch is closed, despite the brake pedal being let up, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor showing lower value than 2.7 % for longer time than 2.0 seconds and is repeated 30 times in a row.
S60/V70 (00-)/V70 XC (01-)/S80 (-06) Model year 2002.
If Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor showing greater value than 19.9 %, for a longer time than 0.32 seconds, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.
For upgraded software, released during year 2006 or later, certain adjustments have been made. If the Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor shows higher value than 9.0 % for a longer time than 2.0 seconds and this is repeated 30 times in a row, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.
S70/C70/V70 (-00)/V70 XC (-00) Model year 1999-2000:
If Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor showing higher value than 75.4 %, for a longer time than 0.32 seconds, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.
For upgraded software, released during year 2006 or later, an adapted brake pedal position sensor signal is used. Engine control module (ECM) adapts the signal so that it always shows 0 % at let up pedal, which is different compared to earlier software, when the signal directly from the sensor was used. If the Engine control module (ECM) registers that the brake light switch is not closed, despite the brake pedal being pressed, which is indicated by the brake pedal position sensor shows higher value than 9.4 % for a longer time than 2.0 seconds and this is repeated 30 times in a row, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-941F, Faulty signal, is stored.

- Design Description and Operation
Substitute value
Cruise control off.
Cruise control off during entire operating cycle in which fault was detected. If the fault is no longer present, the function is available the next time the car is started.
Possible source
- Open circuit on the signal cable.
- Damaged brake light switch.
- Incorrectly adjusted brake light switch.
This diagnostic trouble code is generated in combination with other trouble codes. Information on the possible root cause is described.
Fault symptom[s]
- ETS warning light on.
- Cruise control does not function at all.
- Brake light constantly on.
