Condition
The control modules communicate with each other in a network via a standardized serial communication procedure - CAN (Controller Area Network) - to exchange information.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in its communication with the central electronic module (CEM).
