Electronic Throttle Control Module: Service and Repair




Replacing The Electronic Throttle Module (ETM)







- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
- Remove the intake pipe between the front cover plate and the air cleaner ACL).
- Disconnect the intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) and the throttle body (TB) and put to one side.







- Remove the throttle body (TB) and place it to one side.
- Clean the gasket face.
- Remove the starter motor and put to one side.
- Disconnect the throttle body (TB) connector.

Installing the throttle body (electronic throttle module (ETM)

Install







- the starter motor against the transmission. Tighten to 40 Nm Install the bracket on the cylinder block. Tighten to 30 Nm
- the connector for the new throttle body (TB) with the cable on the outside of the starter motor bracket.

Secure the cable so that there is no risk of damage or a broken connection.







- a new throttle body (TB) with a new gasket. Tighten to 10 Nm
- the intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) and the throttle body (TB) and the connected hoses
- the intake pipe between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL)
- the cable to the battery negative terminal.

Programming the control module
Program the new control module.

Finishing
- Check that no diagnostic trouble codes have been stored during the repair.
- Test drive the car and that check the engine function is OK.
