Handling Non-Deployed Airbag Modules And Pyrotechnic Seat Belt Tensioners
If The Car Is To Be Scrapped, Or When Replacing The Steering Wheel Module, The Passenger Module, The Seat Belt Tensioner And The Front Seat SIPS Airbag

WARNING: Non-deployed pyrotechnical SRS components must not be deployed or ignited inside the vehicle.
Remove Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) pyrotechnical components according to the instructions in section:
- Air bag, driver's side.
- Air bag, passenger side.
- Inflatable curtain S40.
- Inflatable curtain V40.
- Seat belt tensioner.
- SIPS-bag.
WARNING:
- Airbag modules or pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners must never be taken apart, repaired or transferred to another vehicle.
- Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed air bag or pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner. Airbags and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners may deploy.
Storage And Transport
For temporary storage, the steering wheel module must be placed with the metal side down in a safe place. This protects the outer material.
NOTE:
- For storage for longer periods, inflatable curtains, air bag modules and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners must be stored in their original packaging.
- Inflatable curtains, air bag modules and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners must be stored and transported.
- Loose IC modules should be stored in racks or another approved packaging.
- Inflatable curtain (IC) modules must not be exposed to temperatures above 110°C.
Inflatable curtains (IC), air bag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners, must be transported.
