Checking and adjusting the gear-shift position sensor
Special tools:

Removal
Removing engine compartment components
Note! When removing the battery lead, see Note when disconnecting and connecting the battery lead Battery Disconnecting
Remove:
- the air cleaner (ACL) housing, the intake manifold and the battery
- see Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Removal and Replacement
- the battery shelf.
Remove the transmission cable from the lever. Move the cable to one side
Warning! Take care not to damage the cable or sleeve by bending it excessively. Take care not to damage the cable boot.
Checking the setting
Remove the lever. Install adjustment tool 999 5475 GAUGE 999 5475 Gauge on the gear shift linkage rod. Check that the shaft is in the N position. The groove on the tool must align with the marking on the gear position sensor.

Adjusting the gear-shift position sensor
Remove the nut for the cable duct mounting. Lift the cable duct away from the screw.
Slacken off the screws for the gear-shift position sensor.
Rotate the gear position sensor so that the mark on the switch aligns with the groove on the tool. Tighten the screws for the sensor. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Remove the adjustment tool.
Installation
Installing the lever
Install the cable duct on the screw. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Install the lever on the control shaft.Tighten to 16 Nm.
Install the cable on the lever.

Install:
- the battery shelf
- the air cleaner (ACL) housing, the intake manifold and the battery
- See Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Removal and Replacement
Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Check and erase any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Go to vehicle communication. Read off the positions for the gear-shift position sensor in the digital display parameter.
