Replacing switches

Special tools:
981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool

Ignition switch

Removal





Remove:
- the lower steering shaft cover (3 screws)
- the mounting screw from the reverse of the ignition switch.
Disconnect the ignition switch connector.

Installation
Install in reverse order.
Check the function.

Light switch

Removal




Remove the two screws from underneath. The light switch positioned at the top of the panel is secured on the reverse with clips.
Disconnect the connectors.
Press in the four clips.
Remove the light switch.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Hazard warning signal flasher

Removal




Remove the panel for the climate control module.
Remove the two upper screws.




Carefully pry out the ventilation vents using a small screwdriver.




Press the panel catches downwards from the inside using a small screwdriver. Pull the panel forwards slightly.
Press in the two clips on the switch. Pull the switch out backwards.
Disconnect the connector.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Mode selector switch, automatic transmissions

Removal





Remove:
- the center console according to Front center console Front Center Console
- the switch by carefully bending the clips outwards using a small screwdriver.

Reinstall:
- the switch
- the center console according to Front center console Front Center Console.

Trip computer

Removal





Remove:
- the panel for the climate control module
- the two lower screws.





Remove:
- the rear section of the bracket (carefully press the edge using a screwdriver)

Note! The radio must be pulled out a few centimeters before the rear section of the bracket is removed.

- the screws behind the rear section of the bracket. Pull the bracket forward slightly.
Press in the clips on the reverse of the trip computer switch.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Power sun roof

Removal





Remove:
- the cover over the courtesy lighting switch. Lift the edge using a small screwdriver

Note! The switch spring is not secured!

- the switch using a small screwdriver

Note! The courtesy lighting bulb must be removed when installing the switch (to ensure good contact at the connector pins).

- the bulb according to Replacing interior lighting Replacing Interior Lighting

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Front door module

Power window, power mirror, central locking





Removal
Remove the screw from under the cover.
Lift the handle up. Disconnect the connectors.
Remove the switch. First carefully bend the mountings outwards using a small screwdriver.
The switches for the power mirrors and central locking can be replaced on the driver's door module.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Rear door module

Power windows





Removal
Remove the screw from under the cover.
Lift the handle up. Disconnect the connector.
Remove the switch. First carefully bend the mountings outwards using a small screwdriver.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

Child-proof lock

Removal




Carefully pry the switch outwards using weatherstrip tool 981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool.
Disconnect the connector.

Installation
Install in reverse order.

VGLA sensors

Removal




Carefully pry the switch outwards using weatherstrip tool 981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool.
Disconnect the connector.

Installation
Install in reverse order.
