Checking Camshaft Control, Inlet
Checking camshaft control, inlet
Checking the function
Note! The check below refers to camshaft control inlet and cannot be performed on cars that do not have control of camshaft inlet.
Hint: The malfunction may be intermittent, the check below is relevant when/just before the symptom appears. If diagnostic trouble code for camshaft control is stored, then troubleshoot that diagnostic trouble code first.
- Start the engine and run it to normal operating temperature. Wait until the engine coolant temperature (ECT) reaches 80°C.
Read off the camshaft control's actual and desired values when control starts. This takes approx. 2 minutes after engine start.
Check that the values match an accuracy of approx. +/- 8 °C.
Hint: Incorrect values can be caused by:
- Impurities in the reset valve camshaft, try cleaning the valve.
- Defective reset valve camshaft.
Remedy as necessary.
