Checking The Ground Terminals And Power Supply, Audio HU1205 (AUM)

Checking the ground terminals and power supply, Audio HU1205 (AUM)

Checking the ground terminal

- Ignition off
- Connect the breakout box. See Connecting the breakout box, Audio HU1205 (audio module) Connecting The Breakout Box, Audio HU1205 (Audio Module)
- Audio unit disconnected.

Note! Ensure that you have noted the radio code before cutting the power to the radio. If the current to the navigation system has been interrupted, it may take up to 15 minutes before the GPS signals are received correctly and the car's position can be calculated.

- Switch off all equipment that takes power from the battery (courtesy lighting, radio etc).
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and terminal #A12 (terminal #26 on the breakout box).
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and terminal #A8 (terminal #22 on the breakout box).

Does the ohmmeter read approximately 0 ohms for both readings.

Yes - Checking the power supply

No - Checking for open-circuits, contact resistance and oxidation

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for open-circuits, contact resistance and oxidation

Continue - Checking the power supply

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the power supply

- Ignition on
- Audio unit disconnected.
- Check the voltage (30-supply) between terminal #A12 (#26 on the breakout box) and terminal #A1 (#15 on the breakout box)
- With the ignition on, check the voltage (15-supply) between terminal #A12 (#26 on the breakout box) and terminal #A2 (#16 on the breakout box).
The voltmeter must read approximately 12 V for both readings.

Were any faults found in the power supply / ground terminals?

Yes - Checking connectors, fuses and wiring

No - No Fault Found

-------------------------------------------------

Checking connectors, fuses and wiring

- Ignition off
- Audio unit disconnected
- Check audio unit connector A (wiring side). Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections
- Check the cable between terminal #A1 (#15 on the breakout box) and the battery positive terminal. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a defective fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
- Check the cable between terminal #A2 (#16 on the breakout box) and the ignition. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a defective fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground
- Remedy as necessary.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should be diagnosed and remedied. Since this is not the case the fault-tracing process has failed.
Complete the fault-tracing for those fault or try again.

Do you want to terminate fault-tracing at this time?

Yes - Exit fault-tracing

No - Attempt New Test
