Checking the charge lamp
- Ignition off.
- Ignition on.
- Start the engine.
- Rev the engine once.
Check that charging lamp lights when the ignition is switched on and that the lamp goes out when the generator starts charging.
Is the charge lamp OK?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN)

Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN)
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the connector (1-pin receptacle terminal) from the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
The voltmeter should read between 0.7 V and approximately 2 V.

Not OK - Replacing the component

- Disconnect the connector from the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
- Start the engine.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
The voltmeter should read approximately 14.5 V.
OK - Checking the charge, lamp wiring circuit
Not OK - Replacing the component

The fault is in the generator.
- Replace the generator (GEN) generator (GEN) .

The previous tests have shown that the fault is in the wiring circuit for the combined instrument panel or the lamp. It is also possible that the combined instrument panel is faulty.
Check the wiring circuit for the charge lamp.
Check the circuit between the generator (GEN) and the combined instrument panel for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Start the engine.
- Rev the engine once.
