Checking the function of the rear windshield wiper
Checking the signal from the wiper / washer switch
- Ignition on.
Read off the status for the rear windshield wiper switch. Move the switch to all the positions. Check that the status corresponds. For further information about parameters see Description of parameters Description Of Parameters.
Is the status OK?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking the wiring and component

- Ignition off.
Check the fuse and the cable between the wiper-/washer switch connector terminal #2 and the fuse in the passenger compartment integrated relay/fusebox. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground and voltage. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. If the fuse is defective, check the circuit after the fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground before replacing the fuse.
Check the fuse and cable between the wiper-/washer switch connector terminal #3 and the fuse in the passenger compartment integrated relay/fusebox B2 #24 (#A24). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground and voltage. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
If the value indicates Off and intermittentwith the switch in the corresponding position the upper cable is fault free.
Check the cable between the wiper-/washer switch connector terminal #5 and the control module P#3 (#B23). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground and voltage. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
If the read off value indicates Off and onwith the switch in the corresponding position the upper cable is fault free.
Try a new wiper / washer switch if no fault is found in the cables.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition on.
Activate the tailgate wiper. It should start and then stop in the parking position.
