Checking the fuel pump unit and the fuel pressure sensor
Note! The vehicle should be switched off, ignition off, for at least 5 minutes before starting fault-tracing.
- Ignition on
- Check that the power supply to fuel pressure sensor terminal #4 is approximately 5 V
- Start reading off parameters
- Check that the pressure is lower than 380±5 kPa
- Start the car
- At idle speed:
- Check that the pressure has risen to 380±5 kPa.
- Check that battery voltage is normal, that is above 12 V.
- Check the pressure and the pump work load:
If the pump work load is high (>75%), check the fuel pump unit.
Check the fuel pump unit if the pressure is extremely high (>500 kPa) at the same time as the pump work load is low (>15%).
Check the pressure sensor if the pressure is not constant at 380±5 kPa.
Check the connectors for the engine control module (ECM), fuel pump unit and fuel pressure sensor. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Remedy as necessary.
