13 - Checking EVAP Canister Purge Valve

Checking EVAP Canister Purge Valve

- By activating the quick test for the EVAP valve, the status of the valve can be determined. The test sends pressure pulses through the valve so that the functionality of the valves can be checked.
- The fault is permanent if a fault is detected in the evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve when running the quick test.
- Engine idling during the entire test.
- Activate the evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve quick test. The test takes a few seconds to carry out.

The smart tool displays the result as a ranking value between 0 and 255.

If the value is 128 or greater, the functionality of the valve is poor and the valve must be cleaned or replaced. If the value is below 128, the function of the valve is OK. Check the hose/hose connectors between the evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve and the intake manifold. Check for leakage.

Remedy as necessary.
