Checking Software Version

The fault tracing that follows depends on whether the software in the control module is upgraded. The control module's software version can be read out using VIDA vehicle communication.

NOTE: This fault tracing applies for:
- Model year 1999-2000, diagnostic trouble code ECM-4038.
- Model year 2001-2002, diagnostic trouble code ECM-9818.

From model year 2001, diagnostic trouble code ECM-4038 has been renamed ECM-9818.

Is the software upgraded?

YES: Refer to Upgraded Software. Upgraded Software
NO: Refer to Software Not Upgraded. Software Not Upgraded
