Checking signal from control switch, driver's door

Checking the locking signal




- Ignition off
- Connect the breakout box
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals #A16 (A16) and #A1 (A1).
Turn the key in the driver's door to the locking position.
The value must be infinite when the lock is unaffected and 0ohms when the key is turned to the locking position.

Is the value OK?

Yes - Checking the unlocking signal

No - Checking control switch and wiring

Checking control switch and wiring




- Disconnect the connector for the control switch in the driver's door
- Ignition on
- Bridge between terminals #1 and #2 in the connector on the VGLA control module side.

Note! The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the connector is bridged for more than 10 seconds.

Read off the status of the control switch in the driver's door.
The value should be LOW.









Is the value OK?

Yes - Replacing the component

No - Checking the wiring

- Ignition off
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals #A18 (A18) and #A1 (A1).
Turn the key in the driver's door to the unlocking position.
The value must be infinite when the lock is unaffected and 0ohms when the key is turned to the unlocking position.





Is the value OK?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking control switch and wiring

Checking the wiring
Check the cable between VGLA control module terminal #A16 (A16) and the control switch connector terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between the control switch connector terminal #2 and ground. Check for an open-circuit. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Disconnect the connector for the control switch in the driver's door
- Ignition on
- Bridge between terminals #3 and #2 in the connector on the VGLA control module side.

Note! The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the connector is bridged for more than 10 seconds.

Read off the control switch unlocking signal status.
The value should be LOW.









Is the value OK?

Yes - Replacing the component

No - Checking the wiring

Check the cable between the control switch connector terminal #2 and ground. Check for an open-circuit. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Replacing the component
Try a new control switch.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied as follows:








- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connectors, reinstall components etc.
- Connect the breakout box
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals #A16 (A16) and #A1 (A1).
Turn the key in the driver's door to the locking position.
The value must be infinite when the lock is unaffected and 0ohms when the key is turned to the locking position.
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals #A18 (A18) and #A1 (A1).
Turn the key in the driver's door to the unlocking position.
The value must be infinite when the lock is unaffected and 0ohms when the key is turned to the unlocking position.

Are these values OK?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Fault-tracing information
