Reading off the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC)

Reading off the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
Note! When reading off the DTC status, other stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status will also be listed.

- Start the engine. Let it idle for at least 15 seconds.
- Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status. Check the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC).





Was the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC) permanent?

Yes - PERMANENT

No - INTERMITTENT

PERMANENT - Checking the wiring and component

INTERMITTENT - Intermittent fault

Checking the wiring and component
Check knock sensor (KS) connector. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the cable between control module terminal #A46 and knock sensor (KS) terminal 1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between control module terminal #A64 and knock sensor (KS) terminal 2. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Remedy as necessary.

Was a fault found in the wiring or connector?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the component

Try a new knock sensor (KS) according to Knock sensor (KS), replacing Service and Repair.

The control module has previously registered a fault. The fault is now no longer present.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components
- Start the engine and rev it once (above 1000 rpm).
- Read off the Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status. Check the status of the relevant Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).





Was the status of the relevant Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) displayed as intermittent?

Yes - VERIFIED

No - VERIFICATION FAILED
