Seat belt attachment
Background
In some cases, the upper and lower seat belt attachments in the second and third row seats may have been fitted or tightened improperly during production. In certain circumstances this could cause the seat belt attachment to come loose. The corrective action will consist of inspecting and, if necessary, tightening or replacing the attachments.

Visual inspection of second row outer end mountings, lower 1
Fold the backrest. Pull the seat to the forward-most position.
Remove the cover for the seat mounting.
Lift the upper edge of the sill trim panel.

A: The lock facing is in the correct position here.
Note!
It is important that the bright metal lock facing plate (shaded in the illustration) lie flat against the end mounting, and that the lock pin is all the way through the other side.
B: If the lock facing plate does not lie flat, replace the end mounting according to the method in VADIS.

A: The lock facing is in the correct position here.
Note!
It is important that the lock facing plate (shaded in the illustration) lie flat against the end mounting, and that the lock pin is all the way through the other side.
B: If the lock facing plate does not lie flat, replace the end mounting according to the method in VADIS.

Remove the cargo compartment cover, cargo net, etc. (if applicable) before removing the inner panel in the vehicle.
Remove:
- the door weatherstrip from the panel edge.

Remove:
- the cover in the side panel
- the screw.

Remove:
- the cover in the loading eye
- the screw.
Open the cover for the storage compartment on the side panel.
Remove the clip in the bottom of the storage compartment.

Remove:
- the cover (on vehicles without apron molding)
- the screw.

Remove:
- the C post panel
- the connector (if there is one).

Ensure that the screw is correctly positioned and secure.
Use a torque wrench with relevant socket to check that the screw is secure.
Set the torque wrench to 10 Nm. Test tighten the screw.
If 10 Nm is reached without the screw turning then the screw is correctly tightened.
Note!
If the screw moves before reaching 10 Nm, remove it. Check that the threads are intact and that locking fluid is present.
Note!
If the threads are distressed or the locking fluid is absent, replace the screw with a new one P/N 974336.
Install the screw. Tighten to 25 Nm.

Remove the front of the side panel by pulling the panel inward into the vehicle.
When installing, ensure that the locating pin (upper arrow) is lined up with the holes in the bodywork. Press until all the clips lock.

Ensure that the lower screw is correctly positioned and secure.
Use a torque wrench with relevant socket to check that the lower screw is secure.
Set the torque wrench to 10 Nm. Test tighten the screw.
If 10 Nm is reached without the screw turning then the screw is correctly tightened.
Note!
If the screw moves before reaching 10 Nm, remove it. Check that the threads are intact and that locking fluid is present.
Note!
If the threads are distressed or the locking fluid is absent, replace the screw with a new one P/N 967731.
Install the screw. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Finishing 12
Install:
- the side panel
- the C-post panel according to the method in VADIS
- the screwed joints for the side panel. Tighten to 6 Nm
- the clip in the storage compartment
- the screw for the loading eye. Tighten to 25 Nm
- the door weatherstrip on the panel edge. Ensure that the weatherstrip is located correctly against the bodywork and the panels.

Lift up the floor hatch (1).
Remove:
- the outer floor hatch (2)
- the hatch in the side panel.

Note!
Check that the screw is marked with the text BUFO 8.8.
If the screw is marked differently it must be replaced with a new screw, P/N 967731 (the marking of the new screw is irrelevant).
Install the new screw. Tighten to 25 Nm.
If the screw is marked: BUFO 8.8:
Ensure that the screw is correctly positioned and secure
Use a torque wrench with relevant socket to check that the screw is secure.
Set the torque wrench to 10 Nm. Test tighten the screw.
If 10 Nm is reached without the screw turning then the screw is correctly tightened.
Note!
If the screw moves before reaching 10 Nm, remove it. Check that the threads are intact and that locking fluid is present.
Note!
If the threads are distressed or the locking fluid is absent, replace the screw with a new one P/N 967731.
Install the screw. Tighten to 25 Nm.

Remove the loudspeaker grille using a weatherstrip tool.

Ensure that the screw is correctly positioned and secure.
Use a torque wrench with relevant socket to check that the screw is secure.
Set the torque wrench to 10 Nm. Test tighten the screw.
If 10 Nm is reached without the screw turning then the screw is correctly tightened.
Note!
If the screw moves before reaching 10 Nm, remove it. Check that the threads are intact and that locking fluid is present.
Note!
If the threads are distressed or the locking fluid is absent, replace the screw with a new one P/N 974336.
Install the screw.
Tighten to 25 Nm.
Finishing 17
Install:
- the loudspeaker grille
- the hatch in the side panel
- the outer floor hatch.
Fold down the floor hatch.
