Preparatory work

Removing bevel gear
Remove the bevel gear according to: Bevel gear Bevel Gear Bevel gear Bevel Gear.

Removing the nut to the angle gear driver
Mark the position of the flange and nut in relation to the pinion shaft's end.
Remove the nut.
Use: 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. together with 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter.

Removing the flange
Remove the flange. Use: 999 5893 Puller 999 5893 Puller.

Note! Check the seal face on the flange.

Replace the flange if it is damaged.

Removal

Removing the pinion seal

Note! When drilling in the seal, the drill bit should be greased and the bevel gear should lie horizontal so that drill shavings do not fall down into it.





Note! Use a drill stop. Max. drill depth 5.0 mm.

Drill three holes in the seal as illustrated using a 3.5 mm drill bit.




Remove the seal.
Use: 999 7159 Puller 999 7159 Puller with 3 screws.
Tighten the three screws as illustrated in the seal drill holes.

Note! Check that no seal residue is left.

Drain the oil in the bevel gear through the hole for the pinion seal in order to flush away any contaminates.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque

Installing the pinion seal




Lubricate the seal ring lip with wheel bearing grease. Install the seal on 999 7167 Drift 999 7167 Drift.
Tap the seal in place.

Finishing

Installing the flange on the pinion
Install the flange as marked, see Removing the nut to the angle gear driver.

Installing the flange nut




Install a new lubricated nut.
Tighten the M10 nut. Use: 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. together with 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter.

Installing the angle gear
Fit the bevel gear according to: Bevel gear Bevel Gear Bevel gear Bevel Gear.

Checking the oil level in the bevel gear

Note! The bevel gear is supplied filled with oil, however, always check the oil level.
