Information
The sound from the electric motor in EHPAS can in most cases be heard from outside the vehicle as a whining sound with high pitch. The high pitch and power of the whining sound varies when the servo pump is loaded and can thus be located to the front right corner of the vehicle. This is normal behavior.
Normally, it should not be possible to hear this sound from inside the vehicle. Under special conditions, there may be a very weak sound.
Verification
- Turn off all other audio sources (e.g., AC, radio).
- Make sure that the mechanic's clothes do not emit sound when turning the steering wheel.
Under these conditions, the mechanic can hear a very weak sound from EHPAS.
