Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-200A

Condition

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects that the value from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor deviates too much from the values for intake and outside temperatures after the engine has been switched off for an extended period.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is diagnosed once per operating cycle, with the ignition on, but only when the temperature in the intake manifold has dropped by approximately 35 °C, or to within several degrees of the calculated ambient temperature, from engine operating temperature since the previous operating cycle.

Substitute value
- When starting: The intake air temperature (IAT) is used if no fault has been detected on the intake temperature sensor. Otherwise the constant 20 °C is used
- After starting: The engine coolant temperature (ECT) is calculated based on a model
- Engine cooling fan (FC) is activated at the predefined speed.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the connector
- Damaged engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- Engine difficult to start when warm
- Engine cooling fan (FC) running continuously even when the ignition is switched off
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- The engine stops, but only when it is at operating temperature
- Uneven idle.
