Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-990F
Condition
The engine control module (ECM) checks the engine torque by reading off the acceleration of the flywheel. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the measured torque exceeds the requested torque, based on the pedal position and the engine speed (RPM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is idling.
Substitute value
- The cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active
- The engine torque is limited using fuel shut off. The maximum permitted engine torque depends on the position of the accelerator pedal (AP).
Possible source
- Air leak downstream of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Problem with the throttle unit
- Problem with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Problem with the clutch pedal position sensor
- Problem with engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
- Problem with the engine control module (ECM)
- Problem with the flywheel sensor
- Problem with the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
- Problem with control of the variable valve timing (VVT)
- Problem with the generator (GEN)
- Problem with the air conditioning (A/C) compressor.
Fault symptom[s]
- Jerky operation.
