Installing the cylinder head

Special tools:

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

When replacing the cylinder head, the valve clearance must be checked. See: Valve clearance, setting/adjusting, B8444S Valve Clearance, Setting/Adjusting.




Turn the crankshaft back approximately 45°, so that the position setting tool is straight up, so that the camshafts can rotate freely.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening Torque

Installing the cylinder head





Note! Ensure that all studs at the exhaust ports are tightened.

Lubricate the studs. Use paste 116 1408.

Install:
- new cylinder head gasket. Apply sealing compound 307 57050 on both sides. See the illustration.
- the cylinder head
- the new lubricated screws.
Tighten the screws in a circle from the inside and outwards. Use protractor: 951 2050 Bevel Protractor 951 2050 Bevel Protractor. Tighten. See Tightening Torque

Installing the camshafts





Install:
- the camshafts
- the chain tensioner

Note! Adjust the VVT units' marking to the camshaft chain color marking (see illustration).





Install:
- the intake camshaft caps
- the 16 x M6 screws. Tighten, see: Tightening Torque





Install:
- new filter, x 2
- the cap, 4 x M6. Tighten, see: Tightening Torque
- the screws for the chain tensioner, 2 x M6. Tighten according to: Tightening Torque





Install:
- camshaft adjustment tools
