Signal too high / Signal missing

Checking structure week




- Ignition on
Read out the vehicle's structure week by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
1. Vehicles with structure week up to and incl. 200445, that is, year 2004 week 45.
2. Vehicles with structure week from and incl. 200446, that is, year 2004 week 46.

- Ignition off
- Disconnect connector A for the phone module (PHM).
- Disconnect the handset's connector.
Check the speaker signal's cable on the control module's connector A for short-circuit to voltage.
Check between:
- #20 (#20) and #7 (#7).
- #20 (#20) and #5 (#5).
Check the speaker signal's cable for open circuit.
Measure between the control module's connector A #20 (#20) and the handset's connector #2 (#22).
Check the connectors for loose connections, damaged or bent pins as well as oxidation.
If no malfunction was found on the cable, try replacing the handset.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Activate the carphone.
Make a call so that both the handset and the hands-free system are used. See instruction manual.
Ignition off.

Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Check that the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has switched status from permanent to intermittent fault.

Check the signal cable for the microphone between phone module (PHM) connector B terminal #14 (#56) and handset connector terminal #2 (#22). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the signal cable for the microphone between phone module (PHM) connector B terminal #14 (#56) and handset connector terminal #2 (#22). Check for an open-circuit.
Check the connectors for loose connections, damaged or bent terminal pins and oxidation.
Try replacing the carphone handset if no fault is found in the wiring.
Remedy as necessary.
