Crankshaft position sensor (CKP)

Preparatory work
Removing components
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module Service and Repair.
Removal
Removing upper intake manifold
Caution! Seal the openings in the lower part of the intake manifold with tape or similar.
Remove / slacken off the 6 screws for the upper intake manifold, the 2 screws closest to the front cover plate and the 2 screws against the firewall. Bend up the intake manifold and hold it to one side.
Removing the engine speed (RPM) sensor
Remove the nut for the engine speed (RPM) sensor. Hold the radiator hose above the engine speed (RPM) sensor to one side. Disconnect the engine speed (RPM) sensor connector. Lift up the engine speed (RPM) sensor.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque
Installing the engine speed (RPM) sensor
Caution! Make sure that the guides for the lower section are in the correct position.
Install:
- the engine speed (RPM) sensor
- new nut. Tighten. Connect the connector to the engine speed (RPM) sensor
- new gasket for the upper section of the intake manifold
- the upper intake manifold. Tighten the screws alternately. Tighten the intake manifold screws. Tighten. See: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Installing components
Install the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module Service and Repair.
Finishing
Checks
Start the engine and check the function.
