Alternator: Service and Repair






Generator

Preparatory work

Ignition off




Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery Disconnecting

Removal

Removing the air intake and the auxiliaries belt




Remove the air intake and the resonator box, 3 screws.
Remove the accessory drive belt. See Tensioner accessory drive belt Service and Repair.

Removing the generator (GEN)





Remove:
- the nut for the battery positive lead
- the connector
- the 3 screws.
Lift out the generator.

Installation

Installing generator (GEN)
Lift the generator into place.

Install:
- the 3 screws
- the connector
- the battery positive lead. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.

Installing the air intake and the auxiliaries belt

Install:
- the auxiliary unit belt, see: Tensioner accessory drive belt Service and Repair
- the air intake and the resonator box, 3 screws
- the battery negative lead. See: Battery Disconnecting
Test the function.
