Condition




The signal from the knock sensor (KS) varies according to engine speed (RPM). The engine control module (ECM) checks that the knock sensor (KS) signal is within certain limits. These limits are dependent on engine speed (RPM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the signal from the knock sensor (KS) is higher or lower than the set limits.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when driving.

Substitute value
- Safety retardation of ignition advance
- Knock control is disabled.

Too little roar
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector for the knock sensor (KS)
- Loosely installed knock sensor (KS)
- Damaged knock sensor (KS).

Too much roar
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector for the knock sensor (KS)
- Damaged knock sensor (KS).

- Poor performance.
