Signal Too High
Signal too high
Checking the status
- Ignition on
- Read off the oil level sensor signal.
The values indicate the pulse ratio of the oil level signal, the oil temperature signal and the oil quality signal based on the combined pulse width modulated signal from the oil level sensor. All these signals are used by the engine control module (ECM) to calculate the oil level.
Check that all three values for oil level, oil temperature and oil grade are between 17-83%. The fault is intermittent at the moment if all the values are OK.
Continue - Checking the wiring and component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the wiring and component
Hint: If any of the signal values from the oil level sensor are incorrect but at least one is correct, the oil level sensor is damaged.
Check the signal cable between engine control module (ECM) terminal #A68 (#B8) and oil level sensor terminal #1. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Hint: With the ignition on, the voltage between terminals #2 and #3 must be 5 V, with the reading taken at the oil level sensor connector.
Try a new oil level sensor if no fault is found and the fault is permanent.
Remedy as necessary.
