Automatic start/stop of engine

(only on vehicles with the function Automatic start/stop of engine).

Secondary Battery Relay
Shows if the Central electronic module (CEM) requests from Engine control module (ECM) that the secondary battery relay should be activated or not. Central electronic module (CEM) requests activation of the relay when the secondary battery needs to be charged.

Voltage secondary battery
Shows secondary battery's voltage.
Measurement scale: 0-18 V
When the engine is running (alternator charges) and the secondary battery is connected to the vehicle's electrical system, the secondary battery's voltage will be the same as the rest of the electrical system's voltage. If the secondary battery disconnected, the voltage will be lower.

Voltage secondary battery, latest stored
Shows secondary battery's latest stored voltage.
Measurement range 0-18 V.
For every new driving cycle, the Central electronic module (CEM) measure the voltage on the secondary battery and stores this value. If the vehicle has been parked with the ignition off for more than approx. 10 hours, the Central electronic module (CEM) uses the new voltage value to calculate how long time the secondary battery needs to be charged. If the vehicle has been parked with the ignition off for less than approx. 10 hours, the Central electronic module (CEM) uses the previously stored voltage value to calculate how long time the secondary battery needs to be charged.

Voltage secondary battery, lowest average value
Indicates the secondary battery's lowest stored average voltage.
Measurement range 0-18 V.
Every time autostart is activated, the Central electronic module (CEM) continuously reads the secondary battery's voltage during the start sequence (during the time the secondary battery supplies the vehicle). The lowest value that is registered is saved by the Central electronic module (CEM) in its memory. At the next autostart, this sequence is repeated and the Central electronic module (CEM) calculates the average value of the previously registered voltage values and the last value. The average value is calculated at every autostart. This average value forms the basis for the secondary battery's SoC and capacity. If the calculated average voltage falls below 10.4 V in the actual operating cycle, the automatic start/stop of the engine function is no longer permitted. This is to prevent the battery from discharging to much.

Charging need secondary battery
Shows how long time the secondary battery needs to be charged.
Measurement range: 0-65535 seconds.
Using the secondary battery's voltage at the start of the driving cycle, the Central electronic module (CEM) calculates how long time the secondary battery needs to be charged.

Charging time secondary battery
Shows how long time the secondary battery has been charged during the latest driving cycle.
Measurement range: 0-65535 seconds.

Temperature secondary battery
Indicates the calculated temperature of the secondary battery.
Measurement range: -40-+215 °C.

Downtime
Shows how long time the vehicle has been parked, with the ignition off, at the last instance.
Measurement range: 0-24 hours.

Voltage/power-sensitive consumers of electricity
Shows if voltage or power-sensitive consumers of electricity are activated/engaged or not. Depending on which power consumers are connected, the alternator voltage will be controlled differently. Included in the brake energy regeneration function.
The following can be shown:
- No voltage/power-sensitive consumers of electricity activated.
- Voltage sensitive consumers activated. For example: headlights, fog lights, blower fan motor, windscreen wipers.
- Voltage/power-sensitive consumers activated. E.g., electrical cooling fan motor, preheating coil, trailer connected, passenger compartment fan motor.
Depending on which power consumers are connected, the alternator voltage will be controlled differently. When voltage-sensitive consumers are activated, the alternator voltage is not allowed to vary too quickly. When voltage/power-sensitive consumers of electricity are activated, then the alternator voltage is not allowed to be lower than approx. 13.2 V. This is so that the available power will not be too low.

Battery Monitoring Module (2011-)

Note! Only on vehicles with the function Automatic engine start/stop and/or Brake energy regeneration.

Note! For model year 2010, and also model year 2011 with engine profile D4164T, the battery monitoring sensor is diagnosed by Engine control module (ECM).

Battery current
The parameter shows current in as well as out from the battery. Measuring range: -512- +512 A. The value shows the vehicle's actual power consumption calculated by the battery monitoring sensor via the Central electronic module (CEM). The battery monitoring sensor registers the current in to or out of the battery and its size. With the ignition on without the external battery or battery charger connected, the vehicle's actual power consumption can be measured. By switching on different consumers their power consumption can be noted.
Important! With the engine running, external battery or battery charger connected, it is only possible to note whether current goes in to or out of the battery and its size. If a consumer is then switched on in the vehicle, it is not guaranteed to be noted as the alternator/battery charger compensates for the current change.

Battery voltage, battery monitoring sensor
The parameter shows the battery's voltage at the battery's terminals. Measuring range: 0-16 V. The value shows the battery's current voltage calculated by the battery monitoring sensor via Central electronic module (CEM).
