Description of Parameters [4 of 4]

Temperature (main) battery
The parameter shows the battery's calculated temperature. Measuring range: -40 - + 80 °C. The battery monitoring sensor calculates the battery's internal temperature (battery acid) based on the minus terminal's temperature to control the right charging voltage as well as calculate the right battery capacity.

Charge level (main level) battery (SoC State of Charge)
The parameter shows the battery's calculated degree of charge. Measuring range: 0 - 100 %The value indicates the battery charge level calculated by the battery monitoring system via the Central electronic module (CEM). Expressed as the amount of electrical energy that can be stored in a fully charged battery. Stated in % of full charge. Also called State of Charge, SoC

Charge balance battery
The parameter shows current charging balance for the battery. Measuring range: -100 - +100 Ah. The value indicates the charge balance calculated by the battery monitoring sensor via the Central electronic module (CEM) for the actual operating cycle. A positive value indicates that the battery is charged with energy (increased its capacity). A negative value indicates that the energy is discharged from the battery (reduced its capacity).

Calculating battery status
The parameter shows current status of the battery monitoring sensor's calculation of battery status. Not reliable = Sensor's calculation is not reliable. Reliable = Sensor's calculation is reliable. There are situations where the battery monitoring sensor's calculations of the battery's status temporarily are not reliable. Applies when charging of the battery takes place directly on the battery's terminals or when resting current consumption is more than 250 mA during 7 days. This means that the sensor never gets the possibility to measure the battery's resting voltage and thus not calculate the battery's charging status. If calculation is not reliable, functions like Brake energy recycling as well as Automatic start/stop of engine are blocked.

Standby current average value
The parameter shows current status of the battery monitoring sensor's calculation of battery status. Measuring range: 0 mA- 250 mA In "sleep mode", the battery monitoring sensor registers the vehicle's standby current every minute. The readout indicates the standby current's average value that the vehicle has had over the last 10 hours that the car has been in "sleep mode". The average value of the vehicle's standby current should be less than 25 mA.

Communication battery monitoring sensor, status
The parameter shows current status of communication between the battery monitoring sensor and Central electronic module (CEM) on the serial communication net LIN. The following may be shown: No communication = Communication failure. Communication ok = Communication works. In case of communication failure, a fault code will be stored in Central electronic module (CEM).

Hint: In case of a fault or when the fault becomes intermittent, it can take up to 10 seconds for the control module to show the correct status.

Battery monitoring sensor, status
The parameter shows current status of the internal control that the battery monitoring sensor performs. The following may be shown: Internal failure detected = Failure detected. No failure = No failure detected. In case of detected internal failure, a fault code will be stored in Central electronic module (CEM).

Hint: In case of a fault or when the fault becomes intermittent, it can take up to 10 seconds for the control module to show the correct status.

Battery operating time since reset of battery monitoring sensor
The parameter indicates how long the battery monitoring sensor has calculated the battery to be in the vehicle for. Measuring range: 0 days - 4095.

Note! At reset of information about current feed when, among others, the battery monitoring sensor (BMS) is reset, the value for operating time will be reset.

Request charge voltage alternator
The parameter shows what voltage the alternator should generate in the current driving situation. Measuring range: 10.6 -16.0 V In case of detected internal failure, a fault code will be stored in Central electronic module (CEM).

Note! On some occasions the Engine control module (ECM) permits other voltage levels than the request does. This occurs for example when the Engine control module (ECM) activates the brake energy regeneration function.

Alternator control
The parameter shows current status for alternator control. The alternator will, depending on the engine's efficiency, power consumption in the vehicle, and the battery's status be controlled differently. The following may be shown: Conventional charging. Regeneration brake energy, slow. Regeneration brake energy, fast. Regeneration brake energy, slow without charging. Reconditioning battery. Battery identification.
