Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-513D
Condition
Engine control module (ECM) receives information about the vehicle's speed from Brake control module (BCM) via the CAN-net. The engine control module (ECM) also receives information on vehicle speed from the transmission control module (TCM) via the CAN network. The speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) is the main signal. The speed signal from the transmission control module (TCM) is used as a safety reference to determine, for example, whether the cruise control function should be active or inactive.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
Faulty signal
- The speed signal from the transmission control module (TCM) has not been updated.
Quality factor too low
- The quality of the speed signal from the transmission control module (TCM) is too low.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.
Substitute value
- None.
Possible source
- Disruption or intermittent open-circuit on the Control area network (CAN).
- Internal fault in the transmission control module (TCM).
Fault symptom[s]
- Autostart; No Functionality
- Adaptive cruise control; No Functionality
- Cruise control does not operate
- Cruise control may disengage when speed is set
