Satellite radio, Sirius (Continued)
Illustration A
- Press in the catches at the front edge/lower edge on the rear connectors and disconnect them from the antenna.
- Remove the front connector with holder from the roof panel.
Illustration B
On certain models, all connectors are secured with holder in the roof panel (image B).
- Disconnect the connectors with holder from the roof panel.
- Remove the holders from the connectors.
- Place the holders to one side. They shall not be re-used.
- Clean the roof around the existing antenna/antenna dummy above the rear window.
- Tape around it to avoid paint damage when it is cut off.
- Remove the antenna by cutting around it using handgrip part no. 9512333, with thin piano wire in-between.
Caution! There are three locating pins in the antenna, so pull the wire from both directions. Pull evenly to avoid paint damage.
- Remove the tape residue from the roof. Use tool part no. 9512942 and 9512949.
- Wash the roof surface where the new antenna is to be installed using isopropanol. Wipe dry.
- Take the antenna and cover from the kit. Secure the antenna in the cover. Ensure that the antenna engages properly.
Note! To achieve a good result, two people are needed to press the antenna into place. One of the two must press against the inside of the roof to prevent buckling when the antenna is pressed into place.
- Remove the tape's protective film from the antenna.
- Align the antenna's locating pins in the corresponding holes in the roof and press the antenna into place.
Note! Maintain pressure on the antenna for at least 30 seconds so that the tape adheres properly.
- Connect all connectors color to color in the antenna. Check that the connector catches engage.
- Carry out steps 59-60 on both sides.
Installation, receiver
- Disconnect the two clips at the upper edge and fold down the insulating foam.
- Take the receiver from the kit. Install and tighten it in the bracket.
- Remove the three nuts in the amplifier and pull it out.
Illustrations A and B
- Take two screws from the kit and install the receiver in existing holes on the amplifier. Torque tighten the screws to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Remove the connector for the fiber-optic cable from the amplifier.
Note! The fiber-optic cables must not be bent to a radius less than 30 mm (1 3/16 ").
- Take the adapter cable from the kit. Connect the shorter of the fiber-optic cables marked AUD to the amplifier.
- Connect the male connector on the fiber-optic cable that was disconnected from the amplifier to the adapter cable's female connector.
- Reinstall the amplifier with the receiver unit.
- Install the nuts in the amplifier.
- Tighten and torque tighten the nuts 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Remove the transportation protection in the fiber-optic terminal on the receiver.
- Connect the remaining fiber-optic cable's male connector to the receiver.
- Press the joint connectors with their clips at the panel edge at the rear edge/lower edge of the amplifier.
- Connect the routed connectors to the receiver, black for 12 V and gray for the antenna. They are located at the thick cable harness at the rear edge of the wheel housing.
If the car is equipped with GPS receiver, connect the fiber-optic adapter cable in the same way as before, directly to the amplifier.
- Clamp the cable joint at the panel edge as in image 70.
Note! Do not damage the fiber-optic wiring.
- Reinstall the side panel using the existing screws.
- Torque tighten the screws in the load securing eyelets to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.).
- Reinstall the covers in the load securing eyelets.
- Carry out steps 76-79 on both sides.
- Reinstall the right-hand D-post panel.
- Press the right side panel into place.
- Reinstall the rubber strip on both sides of the D post panel.
- Download software for RDAR (Remote Digital Audio Receiver) according to the service information in VIDA.
