Removing the cover over the air cleaner (ACL)
Remove the cover over the air cleaner (ACL) by pulling it straight up.
Disconnecting the connector
Remove:
- the connectors, x 2, from the Engine Control Module (ECM), cut open the tie strap to the cable harness
- the connector from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.
Removing the air cleaner (ACL)
Remove:
- the brake vacuum hose from the vacuum pump
- the screws, x 2, to the fresh air intake hose in the front cover plate
- the fresh air intake hose
- the air cleaner (ACL), by pulling it straight up.
Installation
Installing the test pressurizing equipment
Install tool 999 5545 Adapter 999 5545 Adapter with pressure regulator 999 5544 Regulator 999 5544 Regulator on the fresh air intake hose and tighten the hose clamp.
Caution! Remove the oil filler cap.
Checking the air leakage
Connect the compressed air hose and adjust the regulator so that a max. pressure of 0.2 bar is obtained.
A weak hissing sound can be heard through the oil filler, this is due to an intake valve being open and the pressure in a cylinder leaking past the piston rings.
Spray soap and water solution if uncertain if leaks exist
Small bubbles are permitted between the throttle body (TB) and the inlet hose if it is plastic. If the inlet hose is rubber then no bubbles are permitted.
Rectify any leakage.
