Alternator: Service and Repair
Generator

Preparatory work
Ignition off
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Disconnecting
Removal
Removing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module. Service and Repair.
Removing the dipstick pipe
Remove:
- the dipstick
- the screw
- the dipstick pipe.
Remove the throttle body (TB). See: Throttle body. Removal and Replacement.
Remove the auxiliaries belt. See: Tensioner accessory drive belt. Service and Repair.
Removing the generator (GEN)
Remove:
- the nut for the battery positive lead
- the connector
- the 3 screws.
Lift out the generator.
Installation
Installing generator (GEN)
Lift the generator into place.
Install:
- the 3 screws
- the connector
- the battery positive lead. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Installing the dipstick pipe
Replace the seal on the pipe. Add a drop of engine oil to the seal. Install the pipe.
Install:
- the screw
- the dip stick
- the auxiliaries belt. See: Tensioner accessory drive belt. Service and Repair
- the throttle body (TB). See: Throttle body. Removal and Replacement.
Installing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Install:
- the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module. Service and Repair
- the battery negative lead. Battery Disconnecting
Test the function.
