DESCRIPTION:
Starting with the chassis numbers indicated above, all P1x platform and XC90 vehicles ordered with factory HDD Navigation will include Real Time Traffic information as a feature of the system.
There is no associated subscription fee, and no vehicle-specific setup or activation is required.
Vehicles built before the indicated chassis numbers in the header cannot be retrofitted with Real Time Traffic.
DETAILS
Real Time Traffic, also called Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is a technology for delivering traffic and travel information to drivers. It is digitally coded info using the FM-RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data System) on conventional FM radio broadcasts. The FM RBDS broadcasts are transmitted from our service provider, Clear Channel Radio, in individual markets (see coverage area map below), and are received by the FM sub antenna and delivered via coaxial cables to an integrated FM receiver inside the MMM+. The receiver automatically tunes to the correct frequency. It allows delivery of high quality accurate, timely and relevant information to the navigation system. Each traffic incident is confirmed by Clear Channel and sent as a TMC message. One message consists of an event code for the type of incident and a location code that corresponds with a data point on the Map that is stored within the MMM+.

Hardware Details:
^ The MMM+ contains an integrated FM tuner that is used exclusively for real time traffic (TMC)
^ Additional co-ax cabling from FM sub antenna amp to MMM+ and from MMM+ to lam. FM Sub ant signal is a series circuit with the lam (routed to MMM before the lam) See below for a representative wiring schematic.
Note:
All MY 2008 P1X cars from start of production until the chassis limits in the header have an MMM+ with integrated receiver and the coax cabling installed from the factory. However, The Real Time traffic function is NOT enabled.

^ All MMM+ replacement parts will contain an integrated FM tuner so there will only be one replacement part number for all MMM+ vehicles. The vehicle's unique configuration data and the presence of the coaxial cables and the installed map data will determine whether or not TMC will function. Vehicles before the indicated chassis numbers in the header cannot be retrofitted with Real Time Traffic.
^ The FM receiver in the IAM is not involved in TMC data transmission
Map Upgrade discs:
RTI systems with Real Time Traffic have a unique map disc. They will not become available until mid June. This document will be updated with the part number when they are in stock.
