Fault-Tracing

Fault-tracing

Checking the signal
Check whether any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the brake control module (BCM) or in the central electronic module (CEM). If diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the brake control module (BCM) or in the central electronic module (CEM), these shall be taken care of first.
If there are any other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored for the brake pedal position sensor or for the stop lamp switch, fault-trace these first.

Hint: If diagnostic trouble code ECM-941C is stored in the engine control module (ECM), the brake pedal switch probably is or has been damaged.

Check the signals from the brake pedal switch and the brake pedal sensor during vehicle communication for the engine control module. The switch should be closed and the brake pedal sensor value should be updated when the brake pedal is depressed.
Check the cables for short-circuit to voltage, short-circuit to ground and open circuit.
Remedy as necessary.
